Act I: A Monster is Born takes my reader through the trials of pledging a fraternity—hazing, fraternal brainwashing, the desire for acceptance and belonging. Here, we learn that in an environment where a gay man shouldn't fit in, I fit in all too well.

Act II: A Monster Matures dives into my time as social chair of the fraternity, exploring issues such as scrutiny I received from homophobic brothers, problems involving drug abuse, sexual relations with brothers, and the inflated ego that accompanies fraternity involvement.

During Act III: A Monster Back into a Man, I face climactic dilemmas, such as my fraternity brothers dying of drug abuse and suicide, along with other issues involving my own drug abuse and identity challenges, before finding my place in the fraternity and as a young gay person in a complicated world.
